As you continue through the product description and reviews, you will see that the NuPrime IDA-16's many innovative features and exemplary specifications are truly impressive. More importantly though, just one listen and you are certain to discover the NuPrime IDA-16 to be a true hallmark of audio performance by elevating music playback and visual style to a level seldom experienced at any price.
FROM HI-RES TO EXTREME RESOLUTION
Following in a long tradition of world-renown audio excellence, the NuPrime IDA-16 combines leading-edge audio technology with unprecedented innovation, style, and value. As the world's first fully integrated digital amplifier offering 384K & DSD decoding (2.8MHz, 5.6MHz, 11.2MHz), from its digital or analog inputs to its 200-Watts/Channel speaker outputs it delivers the purest, most natural sound modern audio technology can provide, while also providing the widest support for the latest High-Resolution music formats.
Such deafening silence is further augmented by the NuPrime IDA-16's innovative volume control; a feature based upon advanced, thin-film switched-resistor technology that places only a single resistor in the signal path at any volume setting. Volume adjustment is conveniently achieved in 99 precise, 0.5dB increments and is further complimented by providing individually adjustable volume for each input. Precise level matching of your various sources becomes a breeze and makes comparison between them equally so.
Completing the ensemble is NuPrime's proprietary variable frequency Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) technology. For thundering, authoritative bass performance, the NuPrime IDA-16's innovative supply and its Cross-Matrix Array (CMA) capacitor bank are capable - upon demand - of delivering extremely high current to the amplifier's output stages. In addition, the supply's 600 kHz switching frequency and output voltage actually vary in real-time based on the instantaneous demands of the music. The result is unprecedented transient speed and an almost shocking level of dynamic impact that renders percussive instruments as though they were suddenly attacking outward from beyond the blackest depths of a phantom stage.
Such highly responsive behavior achieves extremely low Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise (THD+N) levels of less than 0.004% while attaining a maximum system efficiency of up to 93%. Adding the NuPrime IDA-16's stratospheric frequency response up to 80 kHz.

"...when you consider the NuPrime IDA-16 has an advanced DAC built in, which will play virtually any digital recording available today, it’ s an even better value. Of course, if it didn’ t sound good, it wouldn’ t be a good value, no matter how low the price was, but it sounds excellent...The NuPrime IDA-16 DAC/amplifier along with the KEF LS50 speakers made a system that, if you’ll pardon a tired reviewer cliché, punched far above its weight. So to return to the question left open in the first paragraph: Yes, the NuPrime IDA-16 DAC/amplifier can indeed be called a bargain. Highly recommended..."

"...This quietness was a particular advantage when I listened at low volume levels, something I usually find uninvolving. Not through the IDA-16 -- my music was just as captivating as at high volumes. Against the NuPrime’ s jet-black backgrounds, all of the dynamics of my recordings were present at all volume levels, making the IDA-16 one of the few amps I have enjoyed for late-night listening... IDA-16 is an exemplary integrated amp-DAC with rock-solid imaging, transparent sound, and tight control of bass..."

Excellent clean sound. Loads of power. Paired with pair of KEF LS50 for near field listening, it is the best sound I've ever heard. Detail is 10/10. The dynamics seem to be improved compared to using my Yamaha amplifier. Would recommended. My only gripe is the lack of a volume control knob; I'd actually prefer the appearance and usability of the IDA-8 for that matter.
I am rather an audio freak rather than audiophile who has enjoyed listening to good hifi music for decades. My quest began several years ago to find the best audio components whether it be separates or integrated.I have lavishly spent astronomical price tags on Hifi separates. What is best is very subjective topic, ultimately it comes down to personal taste and affordability. There is nothing called the best and all the raving reviews you read is very personal experience ,most of the time paid audio reviewers get freebies . All the sugar coated words, adjectives , using scientific terminology is rather confusing. Everyones ears are different and with age it makes it more difficult.
I was looking out for 2nd system for my summer camper. I short listed few brands of integrated to match with descent pair of book shelf. I alway wanted to try Nuprime. Originally I was keen on getting the IDA8, by then Aamir from Summit Hifi knew my taste and my main Hifi set up, which was Tube mono blocks with tube pre amp and Focal Sopra N3 speaker. Amir insisted I should try the IDA 16. I ordered the IDA 16 along with dynaudio Emit 10, as this was the perfect size for my camper.
This is my personal experience and 100% for my ears only.Gave it time to break in. Wow!!! Sounds better than many amps costing several times more.!!! It has an amazing DAC that plays virtually any digital format. It uses a patented analog switching amplifier technology , very efficient class D amp that sounds pretty complicated. I was stunned that class D amp can sound this good. Excellent power, I even tried to hook up Sopra N3 - couldn’t believe how it could drive these big speakers. I am very impressed with the sonic quality. It is definitely not fair to compare it with my Tube components which cost at least 20 times more than the IDA 16. At the same time my tube set up does not sound 20 times better!!!!!I I wouldn’t doubt with all the patents, research/ technology whether Class D hybrid wo...
This was my first venture into the Nuprime brand and it really only took about five minutes of listening to sell me on the idea that this brand is doing something quite special.
The clarity and control this integrated amplifier produces is apparent to even those who don't really care about hi-fi. I remember the first day I connected it to my system and one of my friends was completely taken aback by the sound quality improvement over my earlier class AB amplifier. She wasn't even in the same room when she heard it for the first time and she could definitely tell the difference.
Aesthetically I think the unit is fantastic. It's profile is discreet and unassuming which makes its sound even more impressive.
Two things I didn't love about it was that it does not have tone controls (and I understand why) and I'm not a huge fan of the remote but at the same time I think the remote is stylistically unique. Also, some of the remote codes are so generic that they will operate some of my other devices in the room. I can't hold that against the IDA 16 because this minor gripe will not be applicable for most and because it does so well in all other areas it's almost a nonissue.
After owning the product for about a year I was once again impressed by its sound when I tried a few other integrated amplifiers from other manufacturers. That experience only further justify my belief that the sound that the IDA 16 produces is incredible at this price point.
I received the IDA-16 about 3 weeks ago and have to state it is amazing!!
Regarding features: most importantly, the volume of each channel (1 USB, 2 Coax, 2 optical, 1 analog) can be preset. This means no trouble anymore with sometimes ridiculously different output levels from sources like CD players, Apple-TV or TV. Soundwise, the IDA-16 was right out of the box slightly better than my Micromega IA-400 integrated (that is already REALLY good). Now, after about 150 hours, the performance changed to a 4-dimensional Hi-End Nirvana soundwall (if the source provides sufficient resolution). Almost none of my Bluesound-ripped CDs sound harsh anymore and instruments + voices are very close to live-like. I strongly assume the unit will perform even better after further 150 hours. As a side effect, all inputs sound identical in my system. This means, a 5$ TOSLINK cable sounds like the analog input via a 1000$ Cardas Golden Reference or the Coax input via $1000 upstream setup including a W4S remedy clock. I can now happily sell a number of cables. (Though, the USB input might have the potential to sound better with some upstream tweaking. But, I am not in a hurry to check this out.)
I also like to mention that Aamir almost forced me to buy the unit for an amazingly low price after he had heard that I had bad luck with a NuPrime DAC-1H/ST-10 combo I bought on Canuck Audio Mart. While the combo was really good, I made the mistake to send one component out for an upgrade. It returned defective and from then on things went worse. Aamir said, he will make sure that I still like NuPrime and he was right: I love NuPrime (again). From memory, I am not sure whether the IDA-16 or the DAC-10H/ST-10 combo is better. Here my advice: Buy both systems from Summit-HiFi. Keep the one you like more in your 2 channel (wo)man cave and use the other one in conjunction with a TV/Home Theater system.
